Abordan Imports goes back over 35 years. At that time I met Pedro in Salamanca. He was just starting his agronomy engineer degree, and I had just graduated from English Philology. Over the years we shared a lot of experiences and developed a great friendship.

After a few years, I moved to the United States to pursue new opportunities, while Pedro stayed in Spain, finishing his studies as an agronomist engineer.

Distance made our conversations thinner each year, until eventually, we mostly lost contact altogether.

Years later, while I was in the US immersed in the world of education, an opportunity appeared for my friend. There was an old wine cooperative, rich in history but struggling to adapt to modern markets. Its more than 30 small producers were too old to continue with such a demanding job, and had put it for sale. My friend saw not just a business, but a legacy worth preserving. He bought it with a clear vision—restore its vineyards, honor its artisan methods, respect its owners, and elevate the quality of its wines without sacrificing tradition.

And then he thought of his old friend and reached out to me. I invited him over, we shared a few bottles of wine, as we used to, and it seemed that time had stood still.

That was the beginning. I saw a great opportunity to bring to my new home what I had in Spain. And here I am, trying to bring the Essence of Spain to your table. Uncorked.

I realized at an American table that what endures—whether vine or friendship—only grows more valuable with time.
